What is CBD

What is CBD

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound or “Cannabinoid” found in the hemp plant.  These hemp plants have an estimated amount of 86 “Cannabinoids” that when ingested can offer our body and specifically our (1)“Endocannabinoid System” a wide range of benefits!

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is spread out through our bodies central nervous system, and peripheral nervous system. The ECS is involved in regulating physiological and cognitive processes.

When Cannabinoids are introduced to our Endocannabinoid system this promotes homeostasis in the body. The most commonly known cannabinoids are CBD (Cannabidiol), THC (Tetrahydrocannabidiol), and CBG (Cannabigerol). CBG is the stem molecule to all other cannabinoids found in the plant , meaning that CBD, THC, CBDA, THCA and every other cannabinoid found in the plant is derived from CBG. The fundamental difference to know between CBD and THC is the CBD molecule is non-psychoactive and it will NOT get you high! This provides people the opportunity to receive the benefits of the plant without worrying about getting stoned. While government funded research on CBD is still scarce, studies have suggested there are proven benefits CBD can have on our body!

So How Can CBD Help Me?

Many people are seeking alternative routes in inhibiting and reducing the pain they are experiencing. With research out about how CBD is received by our “Endocannabinoid system”, it can be a safe and compelling addition to your medications. CBD could be added into the routine of people who are experiencing discomforts in their daily lives.

Always do your own research and consult your doctor before introducing CBD products into your health regimen to make sure its the right option for you. Here is a thorough overview from the (1) US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health about the Endocannabinoid and its role regulating bodily systems that can be infected by illnesses.

How Do I Start My CBD Journey?

Has your product been 3rd party lab tested? This is a vital question to ask yourself before you purchase your CBD product.

With a free-for-all CBD market, there is a chance you will come across CBD products that are not actually what they say they are. Lab test results will accompany all the true CBD companies that you come across. These results reveal the amount of cannabinoids in the product as well as other ingredients.

Why is this important? Well you can purchase a product that may actually be above the legal limit of THC which is .3%. That’s a sketchy product to have in the eyes of the law, and for those folks out there who get drug tested. So be sure to double check all your products lab results when you’re buying CBD!

Luckily for the customers of Hempology 101, we have done thorough research to make sure every single CBD brand that we carry in store is backed by lab test results.

    Will CBD Get Me High?

No! Plain and simple. CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid in the plant. People have reported feeling a "body high" when ingesting CBD, but you will not feel any effects on your mental state. Before any company or store can sell CBD products, each product must be accompanied with lab test results called “COA’s” or Certificates of Analysis. These results must show there is below .3% THC in the products companies sell, which is the legal limit to sell CBD products in America.

    What is the Entourage Effect?

The entourage effect is the combining of multiple cannabis compounds to create a different physical or psychological effect than a single cannabinoid would have on its own. Whether the entourage effect is 100% beneficial is still unknown. This is because some cannabinoids will bring out the best in each other, while others may inhibit the effects of others.
